Sensory art for the 3-8 year old child is about encouraging their imagination and nurturing their creativity. Sensory play involves activities that kids can squish, squelch, spin, splash, squeeze, children absolutely delight in exploring their world through their senses. Sensory play is play that stimulates any of a child’s senses – has an important role in a child’s health and development. Through it, your child builds cognitive skills and learns about their world.
The class will be split into three components.
Creative Art Play, the first part is the creative part of the class where each child will create their own piece of artwork to take home each week. One of the most important types of creative activity for young children is creative play. Creative play is expressed when children use familiar materials in a new or unusual way, and when children engage in role-playing and imaginative play.
Sensory Discovery Play is the second part of the class where we will play with lots of different textures and smells, the discovery part of the class. Discovery play has children learning through their own experimentation. In essence, the sensory play includes play that engages any of your child’s senses. This includes touch, smell, sight, sound, and taste.
Nature-Based Art Play Encourages open-ended play and nature connection.
Activities include flower crowns, nature paint brushes, stick people, nature masks, and many more. Improve fine motor skills, physical strength, and coordination through nature play.
